Materials

Aluminium is the optimum material for any door expected to carry a lot of glazing weight. viiu's high strength-to-weight ratio means it can accommodate up to 1200kg when fitted in a fixed pane capacity, still carrying up to 750kg of glass when expected to slide via motorisation. Aluminium’s durable nature lets viiu's framework stay minimal, always remaining weather resistant to outside elements to prevent likelihood of corrosion, rust, and flexing.

We can configure viiu to make use of up to four sliding door panels, making it easy for installers to accommodate large aperture sizes. In some cases, replacing the full width of a property’s side with a structurally bonded wall of glass. 5850 x 3000mm is the max height and width for panel vents, giving installers a wide array of size options when operating on site.

Thermal performance

An integrated thermal break allows every viiu sliding door we fabricate to successfully suit low-energy households, so much so that it has been awarded the Minergie quality label. The design separates the cold air outside from the warmth present inside living spaces, resulting in U-values as low as 0.75 W/m2K – far below the required industry standard. Thermal performance can be increased further by having panels supplied triple glazed.
